Congratulations to our Brand Ambassador – Ronnie Baker for making his first Olympic Team with PR: 9.85. We’re so excited to cheer you on as you go for gold in Tokyo!
Did you know Ronnie stayed healthy and fuelled properly before the 2021 US Olympic trials with our meals?
Whether you’re an elite athlete like Ronnie, or are just looking to make a few small changes to your diet, our meals bring all the nutrition and flavor you’re looking for to kickstart your body and tastebuds.
We chatted with Ronnie before he flew to Japan to ask him to share some details about his pre-race routine:
- What drives you to get up in the morning and train every day?
There are a lot of things, mainly it’s making sure I’m perfecting the gift that God gave me and by working at being the best I can be and maximizing my full potential. I think second to that is becoming the fastest man in the world, it’s such a coveted title and I always strive to be the best in everything I do. I just have high expectations of myself!
- What is the best part about competing?
The best part about competing is simply the competition itself, there is nothing like the adrenaline and excitement you feel before a 100m race.
- What are your strengths as both an athlete and a person?
My strengths as an athlete are that I am a very hard worker, I can fight the urge to quit like nobody’s business. I just don’t have any quit in me and I think that bleeds over into who I am and into everything that I do.
- Do you have a favorite mantra?
One of my favorite mantra’s comes from Psalms it says “You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip” Psalm 18:36
- What does it mean to you to be on the US Olympic team?
Now that I have had time to ponder it, it truly is a blessing. To have the ability to perform at a level most humans can never even imagine and now my name will forever be written in the history books is emotional. There is so much weight on the Olympic trials and making the team, after I made it I was relieved to finally have the meet over with.
- Do you think attitude is a factor in winning?
Attitude is everything, whether that be in sport, your business, or your job! Positive attitude and a certain confidence and swagger are a must when it comes to being the best and winning.
- How has nutrition played a role in your training leading up to the Olympics?
Performance Kitchen meals have saved me. The portion sizes are great, and they help to curb my craving for sweet things. It plays a key role in a healthy gut as well as recovery and practicing at a high level which is where it counts.
- What is your routine prior to competing?
I pray a lot before my competitions, I try and quiet my mind of distractions, and visualize the race going how I want it to. I also listen to music. My favorite song rotates, most times I put my playlist on shuffle and whatever song gets me the most hype I might listen to it 20 times before I race. It usually ends up being something older that is nostalgic.
- What is the one thing you always do after a good performance?
I pray and thank God for a healthy and good performance!
- Why are you a Performance Kitchen Crafted brand ambassador?
To help share healthy meals across America. I love that they have a variety of options and cuisines for everyone no matter your diet or lifestyle. Whether you are vegan or keto, like Southwest, Italian or Mexican flavors – there’s something for everyone.
- What are your favorite Performance Kitchen Crafted meals?
Tamale Pie, Butter Chicken, Chicken Chile Verde Chicken, Tomato Basil Pasta and Sweet Potato Chili have to be my top 5!
